I am on my way to school its July, so there is a gentle breeze;
I never knew that day will turn out to be eye opener. My school used to be
famous for studies and all mischievous activities. There was a fight between two
of my friends, Saran and Abraham, the Friday evening as it is a common thing
with friends, gets a small fight while leaving classes and this matter is somehow traveled to the class teacher’s ears.
So it’s time to get
popularity and your name will be murmured for some days even for weeks by all
friends until she solves the issue. Sometimes it will be taken to principal’s office;
there you have to stand out for a while and whoever sees you (teachers) will
ask about it later on when they have their class and you will be on the scene.
On a positive note I will take this as a chance to make you familiar to
everyone as there is a non-understandable and worthless rule is there it’s
called ‘No Talk with girls’ and vice-versa for boys.
So now into the act, she is asking everyone about the
incident as we boys always tell things in favor of our buddy, she really don’t know
what she could do with asking us questions. So she had one more option, she
straight away asked the victims to clearly explain what happened and what is
the reason behind their quarrel.
She shoots a question to Abraham, Is it you the one who
started the fight.
He strongly objected no.
Now the same question to Saran, he blamed on Abraham and
smiled at him like nothing happened last Friday, because they themselves sorted
it out, it seems to be alright between them and the class teacher now started
this again because the complaint is not only about the fight but also one has
used some bad words like the***iya during the fight. So she wanted to know who
said it.
Now in a huge anger she turned towards Abraham and asked
him, is he a true Christian? Including himself in this sort of silly fights,
telling bad words, roaming with friends on late evenings and now she said that
she wanted to know who used that word. Also she ended with a staring look
towards Abraham and said, a true Christian never lies.
This is the plot, it just passed me as an ordinary incident
that day, but later when I recollect, I had a huge doubt that is speaking truth
only belongs to Christians? And a teacher can teach her students about
humanity, how to treat people instead that she is preaching religious values to that boy. There are many places to speak about the almighty, but a school is a place to learn about seeing people as people, hope the concept of uniform is known to everyone. So one of my friend who is a non-Christian, puts his head
down and murmured are we allowed to lie? If so am I not punished? I made a
small laughter. It’s not that she should not tell about Christianity,
everyone around is not Christians and should consider that.
The point is it’s a teacher’s duty to make her student a
human and not to restrict him into a religious circle. So in general India
needs good humans, irrespective of the religion and school has a major part in
doing so.
